Deckers Creek-Matthew Peck

For this multi-media project my group and I did a story on the Friends of Deckers Creek. Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC) is a nonprofit orginization that spends their time cleaning up Deckers Creek as well as taking daily samples to test that the water is safe.

This piece opened my eyes to the beauty of Deckers Creek and the problems that it has as well. Throughout our filming we constantly saw trash around the water and the woods. FODC does a lot for the community such as holding clean-ups to help maintain the natural beauty of the area.

We were able to get footage of the clean up and use most of it for b-roll in out story. We also interviewed two people where present at the cleanup. Being a videographer, I was excited to have our interviews with a running stream behind them, which enhanced the interview.

The multimedia piece took a long time to put together but in the end we were very happy with it. We decided not to use music in this piece because we believed that the story is about nature and we wanted to use nature sounds to help the story roll along.
